Our English curriculum is separated into ‘reading and phonics’ and ‘writing’ (with writing broken down into handwriting, spelling, grammar and punctuation). The ability to speak clearly and articulately, with an increasingly wide vocabulary, underpins both reading and writing.
Our English curriculum provides children access to the entire curriculum, and it is essential that every child gets off to an excellent start as a reader and writer in order to learn effectively in all other areas of the school curriculum.
